In Tsarist Russia first lottery was held, thanks to reformist action of Peter I, which date from the XVIII century. The founder of this lottery is the first Russian watchmaker Jacob Gassenus from Moscow. The essence of this lottery was the fact that two children were getting tickets from the drum, and a watchmaker immediately gave prizes lucky winners.
